Yesterday everyone from my mom's side of the family came out to Chigger Bend to celebrate the 4th of July! Ryleigh was excited all week to see cousin Jackson again. We started the afternoon with swimming then once it got dark we shot off fireworks. Before going to bed be made s'mores around the fire. This morning we had a birthday brunch celebration for my 27th birthday and swam before we had to leave. It was nice to see everyone again and spend time with the family.
Here are a few pictures of our time together...
Jackson and Ryleigh started the afternoon off with a game of croquet.
Then Jackson wanted to check out Ryleigh's tractor and take it for a spin.
But while driving Ryleigh's tractor he saw the big tractor and wanted to get on it.
Then Ryleigh took Jackson for a ride.
Sitting in Jackson's chair
It is really hard to get two kids to smile at the same time!
Laying down for a bit.
Playing washers or "washing" as Ryleigh called it.
Once it got dark the kids played with their special glow sticks. Ryleigh had the wand and Jackson a sword.
Pulling the string on the poppers! She liked these but it was hard for her to pull the string by herself.
Throwing the other kind of poppers on the ground. She LOVED these! She had fun pouring some on the ground and then stepping on them to pop.
Then Aunt Cecile brought out the light sticks she got for the kids. Ryleigh's was Dora and Jackson's was Mickey Mouse. These were really neat.
Around 9:25 Papa and Daddy started the fireworks show. Ryleigh didn't mind the first few but as the show went on the fireworks seemed to get louder and she didn't like that. She ended up going inside with Jackson and Aunt Kathleen.
Once the fireworks were done the kids came back out to make s'mores.
Here Aunt Cecile is helping Ryleigh cook her marshmallow.
We had three different kinds:
star shaped
strawberry flavored
s'more flatten marshmallows.

Playing with the sparklers.
After all that fun these two kids needed a BATH!
Last 4th July was the first time they took a bath together. These might start being an annual thing. :)
Today the kids had fun riding in the wagon.
and laying in the hammock with Aunt Cecile.
The first part of our 4th of July Celebration was great! Monday we'll celebrate again at Poppy and Laylee's. To be continued...
