Once I got home from having surgery my new bag was causing me a lot of pain. Plus the rash around where the tube was in my back was getting worse.
This was taken Sunday Morning
I had several bruises on my arms from where I was poked getting IVs and blood taken. It took the nurses 4 times to get my IV going.
Monday the rash was spreading more on my back.
My mom had taken off work for Tuesday-Friday to help me out since I just had surgery.
Tuesday she was changing my bandage and notice puss coming from the site and red irritation around the tube that wasn't there before. After calling my doctor she told me to go to the ER. I was really upset because I'm so tired of the hospital and leaving my girls. Plus I had plans to just spend the afternoon with just Ryleigh since I hadn't been able to in a while.
The ER doctor took one look at my back and could tell that I had an infection around the site and a kidney infection because it hurt to touch the surrounding area. Once he said the word "admitted" I lost it. I didn't want to stay and I didn't want something else to be wrong with me.
This is what the larger nephrostomy bag looked like.
My back
Wednesday afternoon they tested my kidney to see if it was draining to my bladder. Since it was they decided to go ahead and take out the nephrostomy bag. After removing the bag and pumping me up with lots of antibiotics I was able to go home on Friday. So I just spent 4 days the week before in the hospital and ended up staying 3 more days in the hospital because of the infection.
Friday morning my mom sent these photos of the girls to make me smile.
Ryleigh found another one of the dance costumes.
So now I'm home with a hole in my back and my kidney waiting for them to close up on their own. I still have some pain and I'm pretty sore but getting back to normal. I really hope I dont' have to go back to the hospital any time soon.
