June Photo Dump

Monday night on the last week of school Reese was not a happy camper from 6:00-10:00 screaming and crying. Nothing we did would calm her down and we knew this was not at all like her. By 10:30 I'd had enough and took her to the ER. Turns out she had a really bad sore throat. The next day I stayed home with her. If she wasn't sleeping she wanted to be outside on her swing. By the end of the day we had gone outside 4 times! Luckily by time she woke up from her afternoon nap she was back to her happy self!

The students voted for who they thought should be "Teacher of the Year" five teachers won and I was one of them! (and the only female teacher too!)

Saturday night afternoon my last day of school and 2 graduation parties we had dinner at On the Border! Reese has always been a good eater but I was pleasantly surprised when she loved the guacamole!

Next we heading to Lowes to pick up a few items. The girls had fin riding the car together.

That same week we sadly sold the Chevelle so we could pay off credit cards and get out of debt. I haven't parked in the garage in over a year. It felt weird the first few times I pulled in but I'm enjoying it! It's a lot more convenient that parking outside. 

Next week I'm one of the Host home for our church's VBS. Looking forward to seeing all the kids.

The next time we went to the pool Reese had a good time playing in the water.

Got the Mom of the Year Award this day when Ryleigh made it out of the house with two different shoes and I didn't see it till after we left! When I asked her why she said, "I couldn't find the other orange shoe."

Klyde Warren Park

Friday last week the girls and I met a friend from work and headed to Dallas! Erin and I needed to pick up our race packets for the "Run or Dye" 5K on Saturday then headed to Klyde Warren Park for some fun with the girls.

Ryleigh had a blast playing the the water feature before getting lunch from one of the many food trucks parked near by. This was my first time to visit the park. It was a lot of fun despite the heat!

VBS

This was the first year Ryleigh was old enough to participate in VBS at our church. They call it "Backyard Bible Study" and have people host it at their homes. Ryleigh has really enjoyed getting involved at church so I decided to volunteer our home as one of the host homes. Ryleigh loved it and still talks about how she wishes " that everyday could be backyard Bible study."

We invited her friends from school and had a sign out in the yard letting the neighbors know about it. One of her friends from school came and four boys from the neighborhood. It was a great group of kids! The church has the youth volunteer to help out and they "run" it. 

Day 1 and 2 it rained in the morning but we were able to let the kids outside for games. Everyday consisted of water games. On the last day they made a slip-n-slide. The kids had a blast!

Allie's Army

Allie was diagnosed with lupus in January of 2011. Since then she has been diagnosed with multiple autoimmune conditions. Which includes a major bleeding disorder and heart and lung problems. On March 27 she received a medicine, called IVIG, which caused aseptic meningitis that traveled to the brain and caused encephalitis. These complications destroyed multiple everyday functions which include: walking, writing, fine motor skills, vision problems, depth perception, balance, hearing, speech therapy, memory problems, nerve damage, reading and everyday functions. She has been in the hospital since March and was recently transferred to a children's hospital/rehabilitation center in Houston,TX working to regain function to return home.

UPDATE: Monday, June 9 Allie returned home and is currently attending outpatient physical therapy.

I had the pleasure of teaching Allie my first year at Centennial. That was the year she started having medical complications and started home bound services to finish up her school work. I would go over from time to time to help her finish her work for ASL 1. 

She is a very strong Christian and always puts Him first. We all are praying for her and her family. My ASL Club put on an ASL Show in honor of her and raised over $1700 in donations and shirt sales.

Pool Time!

The girls and I went to the pool for the first time on May 24. Ryleigh was so excited and couldn't wait to start swimming. Reese was happy till we got to the pool.

As we were putting our stuff down on a chair Reese started her I'm scared cry and clung to me. I guess I couldn't blame her that day wasn't sunny but the water was warm. 

We sat on the side of the kiddy pool while Ryleigh played. I tried to put her in her float but she didn't want anything to do with it. 

Ryleigh had a great time like she always has!

She even walked all the way across the big pool! She was too afraid to do this last year even though she could stand up. I'm so proud of her! Maybe next time she'll show off her swimming skills!

I'm hoping this first trip to the pool isn't a glimpse of what the summer hold for us at the pool!
