The State Fair of Texas

Saturday, October 15 we took Ryleigh to The State Fair of Texas for the first time and of course all three wearing our Texas Rangers shirts!

She was excited to ride the ferris wheel and see all the animals. We could see the ferris wheel when we drove up and that was all she wanted to do as soon as we got there. Next she wanted to see Big Tex. I was afraid she was going to be scared of him since he's so tall and talks but she loved it!

We ended up parking buy the animals so we started there. She liked seeing all the horses and finding out their names.

I tried to get her to stand by the large turkey to take a photo but she was a little scared of it.

Here's the big stinky pig we saw

She thought the rooster and chickens were funny.

Next she got to help out on the "Little Hands Farm."
She got her own apron and basket then went through the farm "feeding" the animals and "harvesting" crops.

Here she is giving corn to the cows.

Riding the John Deere Tractor. It was a little harder to petal this one than riding the electric tractor at Papa and Gramz house.

 "I'm a cow, Mama!"

Waiting in line for to ride the ferris wheel. She got camera shy.

Finally inside and excited to go up and see everything.

After the ferris wheel we were hungary so we hit up our favorite food stands; alligator k-bob and funnel cake. They just happen to be right next to each other and right by Big Tex.

After walking around for 3 hours we were all tired but since we still had some coupons left we couldn't waste them. When we asked Ryleigh want she wanted to eat now she said "a popsicle!" So here she is sitting in the shade enjoying her popsicle. She was so sweet while eating she said both of us if we would like some.

On our way out we passed the horses again and she asked to see them one more time. This time she was able to pet Vern. (Her owner was in the cage so it was ok)

We were both surprised she was willing to pet the horse!

We had a great time at the fair! I think this will be something we continue to do each year just like we did when we were in high school. That night we went home watched the Rangers beat the Tigers! World Series 2011!! Go Rangers!
